Dear Room 16 Parents/ Guardians,
This school is year is off to a great start! Thank you to all of you who were able to attend Back to School Night. It was nice to meet more of you in person and share information about our class. So far, we have been working on many things in Room 16.
Language Arts: We are currently working on our first unit called “Journeys.” We have been working on the reading strategies: predictions, schema connections, summarizing, inference, and organization.
Math: We are working on our first unit on place value. Next, we will be working on ordering numbers, comparing numbers, and rounding numbers. We are also working on strategies to use with word problems.
Social Studies: We are studying California’s Geography. We will be starting to learn about the regions of California.
Science: We are working on our unit on Environments. We are making observations on our terrariums and looking forward to seeing sprouts on our plants.
P.E.: The students are working good sportsmanship. Please remember that P.E. is on Wednesdays and Thursdays so students have good shoes for moving around.
Thank you for the donations for “Time for Kids.” If you have not donated, it’s not too late. Please send $5 cash or a check for the publication payable to Sabrina Horner. The students will enjoy reading about current events as the year goes on.
Thank you for the donations that have been made to our classroom. We will get a lot of use out of the Kleenex, disinfecting wipes, and hand soap.
We still need volunteers for our two weeks of Traffic Duty. The weeks are December 5th-9th and April 23rd -27th. Please contact me if you are able to volunteer.
