Today we went to the Intel Museum. We had a great time and the students learned a lot! Thank you so much for having the students arrive at school early. Thank you to the parents who came along as chaperones.

January Newsletter
January 10, 2010
Dear Room 16 Parents/ Guardians,
Happy New Year! I hope your family enjoyed a wonderful holiday season and Winter Break. We have been getting back to work in Room 16.
Language Arts: We are working on our second theme, American Stories. We will be starting our literature circles in a few weeks. Our next book report will be starting toward the end of this month. The Books and Beyond Program has started at Dilworth so please encourage your student to keep track of all of the pages they are reading to participate in the program.
Writer’s Workshop: We have been reviewing response to literature. We are about to begin to work on summaries as well as write more narratives.
Math: We have started our fifth unit. We are currently working on multiplying two digit numbers by one digit numbers. Next, we will work on multiplying by two digit numbers. Shortly, we will be studying division of greater numbers.
Social Studies: We are finishing up our unit on California’s Native Americans. We will be sharing our group projects the week of January 18th. After that, we will begin studying about California Missions.
Science: We have started our next unit on Magnetism and Electricity. We are continuing to study the force of magnets. Next, we will begin studying circuits and electricity.
Music: On Wednesdays, the students have been enjoying music class. They have been studying American Folk Music and will shortly begin a unit on music specific to California.
Intel Field Trip: The students are really looking forward to the field trip on January 28th. I have confirmed with the chaperones who will be attending with us. Thank you for coming with us. It should be a fun and educational day.
Some Up Coming Events:
• January 17, 2011 – No School
• January 28, 2011 – Intel Field Trip
